I recently made some friendship bread. It was my first time. My friend handed me a baggie with about a cup of batter. Each day for 10 days I smashed the back and add a few ingredients (flour, milk, eggs) along the way. On the final day I made 4 "starter" bags for friends and made bread with the rest, all according to the directions that came with it. It was very different, it sat on the counter the entire time, no refrigeration. Has anybody every tried it? Very different.
