Too Many Options

The article written by Alonso Kramer

How much is too much? I am a high school teacher, and I recently assigned my students a debate about how many options are too many options. We talked about how many television stations are available versus how many you actually use as a starting point to our discussion. Even though there are literally millions of shows available at one time, most students have about five channels that they tune in to the most. Even though people have a plethora of options, do we actually need all of them to be satisfied? Or are we just creating more ways to complicate our lives? One of my students mentioned visiting http://www.directstartv.com/ which launched us in to a discussion about on-demand television and how that has possibly affected our lives as well. Now we don’t even have to leave our house to see movies, any show we want, or to receive news from around the world. At the end of class, we still hadn’t come to an agreement or conclusion, but it was an interesting conversation of debate to say the least!
