I saw this idea in a magazine, I believe it was Family Fun. You take a 2 liter bottle and cut in half. With lid on invert the top part and fill with soil. Plant seeds in the soil (we did basil). Next place some water in the bottom half of the bottle. Then remove lid and place inverted top half into bottle. This creates a self watering feature! Our basil is growing great! Makes for a nice counter top learning experience!
